About the Artist
Gary Clark is a lifelong painter based in Maitland, Florida. Beginning with drawing and realism, his work continues to move through the human figure, landscape, still life, and abstraction. Rather than pursuing a single style, he approaches painting as an ongoing process of observation, experimentation, and discovery, allowing each work to develop according to its own direction.
Drawing remains central to his practice. Strong contours, flattened space, and decisive mark-making appear throughout the paintings. While subjects and visual approaches continue to evolve, a commitment to observation, invention, and artistic freedom remains constant. The recognizable Clark signature appears throughout the work as a familiar mark of the artist's hand.
Born and raised in Orlando, Florida, Clark graduated from Edgewater High School in 1956. Alongside his artistic life, he built and operated a specialty food manufacturing business. That same independence and persistence continue to shape his approach to painting, where art remains an active and evolving daily practice.
