About the Artist

Gary Clark is a lifelong painter based in Maitland, Florida. Beginning with drawing and realism, his work continues to evolve through the human figure, landscape, still life, and abstraction. Guided by intuition and decades of independent studio practice, he approaches each painting as an opportunity for exploration rather than adherence to a fixed formula.

Drawing remains central to his practice. Strong contours, flattened space, and decisive mark-making appear consistently throughout the work. While subjects and visual approaches continue to evolve, a foundation in drawing and a spirit of independent exploration remain constant throughout the paintings. The recognizable Clark signature serves as an identifying element across this evolving body of work.

Born and raised in Orlando, Florida, Clark graduated from Edgewater High School in 1956. Alongside his artistic life, he built and operated a specialty food manufacturing business. That same independence and persistence continue to shape his approach to painting, where art remains an active and evolving daily practice.
